COVEYDUCK,
Sarah Jane Beloved wife of the late Joseph Coveduck,
Tributes galore poured In for Mrs. Sarah Jane (Jennie) Coveduck
long time City of Verdun resident and matriarch of the Coveduck
Family and Clan who passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on
January 6th, 1981 in her ninety-first year. Mrs. Coveduck was the
former Sarah Jane Regular, born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland on
June 13th, 1890 daughter of the late William Regular and Susannah
Noel, and has been a resident of Verdun since 1910. She came to
Montreal in 1905 following the death of her father and became
quite active in Church work etc, and sang in the choir of St.
Edward's Anglican Church under the rectorship of the late Canon
Saunders.
She was a member of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association for
some 55 years of which she was an ardent member and tireless
worker of Maple Leaf Lodge No. 71 of which she was a Past Worthy
Mistress and of Queen Victoria Lodge No. 823, and a Preceptoress
of the Crystal Chapter. No. 35 L.O.A. She was also an avid duckpin
bowler for many years.
She was made an Honorary member of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge
of British America, Honorary member of the R.W. Grand Lodge of the
Province of Quebec, an Honorary member of the Orange and
Protestant Children's Home in Rosemere, Que., also an Honorary
member of the Verdun Friendly Bowling League and the Lorne Bowling
League, and loved and respected citizen and neighbour.
She waa predeceased by her late husband Joseph in 1964. She is
survived by her five sons, William, lrwin Joseph (Joe), Clarence
(Hank) and Earl. Daughters in law Annie, Violet Marion, Joan and
the late Alice, Fourteen grandchlldren, eighteen
great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild In California and
many many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services were
held in the Chapel of the J.P. Wilson Funeral Home on Friday
January 9th, 1981 at 1P.M. with the Rev. Brian Evans of St.
Clements Angllcan Church officiating and interment was in 'Mount
Royal Cemelery. |
