Recently I met Scott Beem grandson of William Scott and Ester Renew. It appears that Scott's grandfather William had married three times, his third wife in 1904 is Scott's grandmother Ester. William was an engineer and he worked at the Detroit News in the powerhouse in Michigan. When he was laid off he farmed on a family members property. Scott's grandparents lived their late years out in Croswell, Michigan where they are buried. William died in January of 1940. 

Records show that a William Scott married Elizabeth Corbett Brown and their daughter Janet Elizabeth was born on June 3, 1876 in Whitchurch and died March 1, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario. Janet married John Commodore Pipher and their son Mervin who was born February 28, 1921, he died January 22, 1983 at Humber Memorial Hospital, Toronto. Mervin married Helen Coveyduck daughter of Robert James Coveyduck and Henrietta Marion Young from Salmon Cove, Newfoundland. Mervin and Helen had two children: Bonnie and Eric. Helen's siblings are Raymond Stanley, Lily May, William Headley, Annie Beatrice, Stanley Raymond, Robert James and Eleanor Jane.

It appears that after Janet's mother Elizabeth died, William ended up in Detroit where he married two times. We have yet to prove the connection, but both Williams had parents named Christopher and Mary and were born in Scotland around 1851.

It appears that William left his family between 1881 and before the census in 1891 and moved on to Detroit, eventually to be found in the 1900 Detroit census with a second wife Francis Ann ? and 2 sons. One born in Canada Harry A.1885, the other, Wesley, born in Michigan 1893.

They are divorced, if ever married, by 1902/03. Now she is married to a Freeman.

John Commodore Pipher was born 1877 in Markham, the son of John Pipher and Dorothy Wismer. They were married March 7, 1902 in Oshawa. They had these additional children: John was born. about 1903,  (there is no confirmation of this birth), Ross James was born on March 22, 1904 , Lorne was born on July 17, 1906 and he died before 1988, Earl was born on January 29, 1908, Mabel was born about 1909 and she died after 2001, Thelda was born about 1911 and she died on August 11, 2001 in her 90th year in Minden. Norman Walter was born about 1910, Ruby was born about 1914 and she died after 2001 and Verna Evelyn was born on June 6, 1915.

William would have children from all three of his marriages, it appears those of the third marriage knew nothing about the first two marriages.
